Come welcome new and returning students of the history graduate program to Middle Tennessee State University! Located on the square of Murfreesboro, the Heritage Center is a joint venture of the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area and Main Street Murfreesboro / Rutherford County, Inc. The center has several rotating exhibits and three permanent exhibits: The Occupied City, Murfreesboro and Rutherford County during the Civil War; Whats in a name? Explaining where the names of Rutherford county cities and streets originated; and Murfreesboro in the Jazz Age.

Transportation and refreshments to and from Murfreesboro from Nashville will be provided. If you would like to ride the shuttle, please meet at Fort Negley at 3:30. We will return around 7:30 pm. This is a great networking opportunity, and its free!

Nashville City Cemetary Tour
Thursday, October 23 at 4:30 p.m.
Hear tales of Nashville's past from Jim Hoobler, Curator of Art at the Tennessee State Museum. Following the tour, join in the debate of whether the interpretation of a site's lore and legends can be a postive or negative experience. Refreshments will be served following the tour. The debate and refreshments will be held at the Fort Negley visitors center.

ICON Annual Christmas Party at Cheekwood
Thursday, December 11 at 5:30 p.m.  
Join us for the annual ICON Christmas party! This year we will be celebrating the holidays at Cheekwood among their annual Festival of Trees exhibit. In addition to viewing the trees and exhibit gallery, we will also be drawing for door prizes at 6:30 pm. Refreshments will also be served.
