Each year, ICON strives to bring our cultural institution professional community together through quality educational programming, networking opportunities, professional development activities, and a monthly e-newsletter highlighting local museum news. As a non-profit organization, ICON relies on the support of each and every member!
Anyone directly involved with a museum or cultural institution as a staff member or volunteer is invited to become a member of ICON. Undergraduate and graduate students are also welcome as members.
ICON offers low annual membership fees so that it’s possible to pay for your membership with just one or two visits to a member institution. Individual members receive free standard admission to ICON’s Institutional Member museums, historic sites, and institutions.* Members are also invited to all ICON programs and special events and will have access to ICON’s monthly e-newsletter. Your support helps ICON create quality programming and networking opportunities for Middle Tennessee cultural institution professionals just like you.

ICON’s low Institutional membership fees are based on annual operating budget so that every institution in our area can contribute to ICON’s important mission of professional development and inter-museum cooperation. We ask institutional members to contribute to this endeavor by offering all ICON members with a valid membership card free admission to your standard exhibits. Although institutions rely on admission, ICON members often take advantage of their member benefits while introducing family and friends to their favorite museums, historic sites, and cultural institutions. You may also choose to extend your contribution by offering ICON members a gift shop discount.
In appreciation of your generosity, ICON will list your institution and contact information on the website and in any promotional brochures. We also offer a monthly e-newsletter in which you can share your events and institutional news. For an additional $20.00 each, you may also choose to purchase memberships for your staff and/or volunteers. All members are invited to attend ICON programs and special events. Memberships last one year. Individual ICON members are also entitled to free admission at Institutional Member Sites.
Annual Memberships run from July 1 to June 30. Current Individual and Institutional Memberships expire June 30, 2021.
Due to the effects of the pandemic, members who joined in 2019 automatically have their membership extended one year to June 2021.

*Individual Memberships may or may not provide access to an Institutional Member’s special events or exhibits. Please contact the individual institution prior to visiting to confirm.
