About the event
Come explore Nashville's oldest outdoor museum, the City Cemetery! This free guided tour will show you how the Cemetery Association cares for and preserve the city's graves. Site Manager Bryan Gilley will talk about his role, detail recent and future projects, and answer any questions. Then, it's your opportunity to get involved! Any interested participants can help clean historic tombstones, many as old as 200 years. The event is also open to non-ICON members, so bring a friend!
Free parking is available. The City Cemetery is a Metro Nashville Public Park, open dawn to dusk, and handicap accessible.

On March 9, 1820, Nashville's Mayor and Aldermen bought four acres of land from Richard Cross, located "on the plains, south of town," to serve as a burial ground.
