About the event
Tennessee State Museum's lead curator (and former ICON President), Tranaé Chatman, will lead us on a tour of the new exhibit Photography in Tennessee: Early Studios and the Medium's First Century.
Photography in Tennessee dives into the first hundred years of the medium in Tennessee, starting from the invention of the daguerreotype in the mid-1800s, to the expansion of the form through the mid-1900s. Exploring how early photographers brought this new tech to Tennessee, giving locals the chance to get their portraits done, we'll learn how these photos give us a peek into the state's past.
